About me

I’ve been interested in web design for a good while now, and it’s been 14 years since I typed down my first pieces of markup in the mid-90’s. At the turn of the millennium I got my feet wet in the freelance market, and after graduating from the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in 2008, I’m devoting more of my time to these projects. Still eager to learn more, I began studies for another IT degree in the University of Helsinki in 2009.

During my studies, I wrote a seminar paper on web navigation and my bachelor’s thesis on standards-based web design. Highlights of my professional career include working on the redesign for the web site of the ministry of justice in Finland. I feel confident with my skills in designing and building for the web, and hope to concentrate on taking my programming skills further in the future. On that note, I plan to launch my first full scale web app in 2010, so watch out!

About this site

The current design of this site is the first one that made it all the way to the finish line. The site runs on the WordPress platform, which I like using on most of my projects. I got rid of the default layout, trashed the styling with Elliot Jay StocksStarkers reset, and then wrote a new structure and look from scratch. I enjoy writing my markup and styles manually, as I feel it gives me more control over the pieces of the puzzle.
